Gary Gifford from Bread & Butter Theatre came as a superhero of sorts, sheathed in red and yellow lycra with a matching be-sequinned crash helmet. Whilst he was talking to the public at Newcastle Monument Metro station, an older woman toppled over her heavy case on the escalator, ending up upside down, her head bouncing on the stairs.
Quick as a flash, he leapt across and hit the red emergency button, simultaneously shouting for Dawn Williams, the common knowledge coordinator.
They ran to the woman's assistance. Looking up from her predicament at the lycra clad apparition, she asked 'What are you?' and laughed. Happily, she wasn't hurt and went on her way. Gary turned to Dawn and said 'Arts and Health collide!'
