Giovanni Grimaldi
Genre:
Western
Synopsis:
Starblack is a hero: He dresses in black and his face is cover by black scarf and carries in his shirt a black star, wich he always leaves at scene of his enterprises,as a symbol of justice. This spaghetti western from director Giovanni Grimaldi stars cult favorite Robert Woods as Starblack, a swashbuckling hero who saves a Western town from the chicanery of a corrupt banker (Franco Lantieri). Beautiful Elga Andersen is Caroline, the requisite love interest, and Renato Rossini co-stars with Jane Tilden and Andrea Scotti.

In the tradition of Clark Kent/Superman, Robert Woods plays both the seemingly gawky and cowardly Johnny Black and the black-masked avenger Starblack, who resembles such 1940s serial heroes as Batman or The Phantom, but in a Western context. The film alternates between the gruff stoicism associated with Italian westerns and a cartoonish feel that was no doubt a homage to the old-time serials that the director/writer/star had enjoyed as children.
