Synopsis: THUNDERBABE first soared onstage in her 2005 world premiere as a brand new comedy adventure in Alameda, CA. Dedicated to truth, justice and the American Way, Thunderbabe spent a glorious decade thwarting the forces of evil and putting the bad guys away. Though never afraid to face danger alone, she occasionally joined forces with daring duo, the Golden Falcon and Finchboy — a liaison that led to a one-night mistake with the fearless flying Falcon. But that was years ago. Thunderbabe is now Babe Griffin, married to Walter, a nice, stable lawyer, and mother to Taylor, a typically exasperating teenage daughter. It’s all very nice. Babe should be happy. Instead, at age 49, she finds herself getting older, feeling useless and grappling with the dark, unresolved secrets of her past. And that’s just the start. Suddenly Babe’s arch enemy, Toxic Passion, escapes from prison determined to take over the world and wreak vengeance on Thunderbabe and the Falcon. Obsessed with regaining the years she lost behind bars, Passion has created a diabolical device that can steal the world’s youth. Suddenly hundreds of teenagers disappear as Passion gets younger. And one of those teenagers is Taylor! Suddenly, the world needs Thunderbabe desperately… RIGHT NOW!!! NOW…? Thunderbabe's cape is in mothballs. Her super thighs don't fit in the spandex anymore. Her Shattervoice is shot. And if the truth comes out about the Falcon, she’ll lose everything…
Critics called the play "super successful" and "rollicking, zany fun!" Audiences agreed and the show sold out by its second weekend. In May, 2007, THUNDERBABE took her second flight, this time in San Jose, CA. Critics called it "a diamond in the rough" and "a plucky little show about finding your inner super girl." A week later, audiences responded by voting the show to the top of the Artsopolis "Best Bay Area Pics" where it stayed for the remainder of the run. (from bjfcreative.com)
