Synopsis:
Ed Gruberman is a semi-employed superhero impersonator who idolizes the vigilante tv star,the park winged vesper. His heroic aspirations are fueled by a desire to find the masked man responsible for the death of his parents, victims of a bizarre circus accident. One night, Ed tries to stop a mugging in an alley. The mugger’s target, it turns out, is a superpowerful and seductive woman named Red. After being trounced by Red and Ed the mugger sues for superhero brutality. The judge orders Ed to join a team of superheroes-in-training: the super capers. Thrilled at the chance for super-legitimacy, Ed meets the super capers, a misfit (group including would-be heroes Felicia Freeze, Herman Bralnard, Will Powers, Puffer Boy, Herbert “Q” a three foot anproid and their leader, sarge. Ed’s first mission with the capers is to stop an armored car robbery at main street. Despite his lack of powers, Ed proves instrumental in the battle with the two villains, Cretan, a nine foot menitor, and Captain Sludge. Although the capers save the pay, the villains escape and a fortune in gold bullion goes missing from the crime scene. A tv news report blames Ed for the villains\' escape and the mlssing gold. Shortly after, agents arrive and charge Ed with the gold theft. Despite sarge’s protests, the agents arrest all the heroes and shut down the super capers organization. The agents take the super capers to a mansion which looks suspiciously like the Park Winged vespers\' mansion from the tv show. Here Ed re-encounters Red who reveals that she has been working with the judge who originally assigned Ed to the team. Ed confronts the judge, and many more park secrets are unveiled, includind a revelation about Ed’s deceased parents. Meanwhile, outside, the super capers fight the vespers’s henchmen. Ed takes the capers\' winnebago time machine and escapes the battlefield. Ed manages to launch himself back in time, for the final showdown with his past.
