Directed by: Yojiro TakitaGenre: Comedy + Drama
Synopsis: cademy Award-winning director Takita Yojiro follows Departures with the live-action adaptation of the classic fishing manga 'Tsurikichi Sanpei' (aka "Sanpei the Fisher Boy"). Yaguchi Takao's manga about a country boy and his crazy adventures in fishing was a big hit during its serialization from 1973 to 1983, and also spawned a popular anime series. For the 2009 silver-screen take on "Tsurikichi Sanpei", child actor Suga Kenta takes the leading role of fishing prodigy Sanpei Mihira, a normal kid who turns extraordinary when he picks up a fishing rod. Tsukamoto stars as quirky pro-angler Ayukawa Gyoshin who inspires Mihira to set out and catch the legendary "Monster Fish of Yonaki Valley". Tsunehiko Watase plays Mihira's grandfather, and Kashii Yu plays his older sister, a new character written for the movie. “Tsurikichi Sanpei”'s exciting fishing scenes are brought to life through impressive special effects.
