Directed by: East Island Long EyebrowGenre: Comedy
Synopsis: In this Hong Kong version of the old Popeye cartoon series, our hero becomes On Do Do (Leung Hon Man), Olive becomes Lychee (Gigi Lai) and nasty old Brutus is lifesaver Captain Lorento (Tsui Kam Kong). As for the spinach which helps Leung Hon Man grow his bulging faded plastic arms, this becomes Fairy Weed (in a spinach can, of course). In this reasonably amusing adaptation, lifeguard Captain Lorento is busy trying to pick up a young female swimmer until On Do Do (Leung Hon Man) arrives on the beach. Unwittingly, On Do Do steals his girl and Lorento naturally vows revenge ("Either you or I must die!"). Meanwhile, On Do Do's internet lover Princess Lychee arrives in Hong Kong from her royal garden in Kuwite, only find both On Do Do and Lorento competing for her love and the swimmer pursuing her man. For most of the film it's just the tomfoolery you'd expect from a film aimed at largely a schoolgirl audience and for this reason, there is very little to really hold this one together. This film's director refused to reveal his identity for legal reasons; the owners of the Popeye franchise forbade the making of this film while the makers of the Mr Bean TV shows will not be impressed by the multitude of scenes lifted from their series.
