Synopsis:
In the Filipino shantytown Barangay Acme—“Acmeville” to its exuberant inhabitants—bright-eyed Junie and shifty, mustachioed Dodoy are coworkers constantly angling to outdo each other, in irresponsibility if nothing else. Then Junie accidentaly swallows a spider that’s been doused in toxic waste (oh, gross!) and suddenly finds himself endowed with superhuman abilities. Astounding acrobatics, magnified hearing, wicked fighting skills and sticky orange goo that shoots from his hands, all add up to Junie borrowing a name and look from the Barangay Acme’s most popular comic book, Gagamboy! But there’s a learning curve to being a superhero, especially when you’re someone like Junie, a hot-headed dreamer who often acts before he thinks! By night, Junie prowls for wrongs to right throughout Barangay Acme (crooks, creeps and the occasional flying, hissing lady vampire!), though the locals are less than impressed with the mess that often results. The competition between Junie and Dodoy is still fierce, as both have their eye on the beautiful and sensible Liana. But when Dodoy chomps down on a radioactive-cockroach sandwich, Gagamboy suddenly finds himself facing a real supervillian—the vile and treacherous Ipisman! Not only that, but the big Barangay Babe beauty pageant is coming up fast, a perfect place for Ipisman and his henchmen to make trouble!
