Synopsis: This ill-fated pilot episode was unfortunately killed before it could really gain any momentum that might provide us with something more to go on than what can be found in one single half-hour chapter. This particular serialization is told through the eyes of Miss Kitty Pryde, aka Shadowcat, as she comes to understand what her powers are and what awaits with this great responsibility. Kitty is first introduced to all the X-Men (a list that includes Cyclops, Dazzler, Storm, Wolverine, Nightcrawler and Colossus) in the Danger Room as they battle their way through its various holographic challenges. The great irony that will rear its ugly head by the conclusion of the episode is that Kitty is frightened of Nightcrawler because of his appearance. Meanwhile, Magneto manages to escape from a prison transport with a little help from his friends, the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. In this particular cartoon, the group consists of Juggernaut, Toad, Pyro, Blob and the White Queen and is renamed the Brotherhood of Mutant Terrorists. Magneto then escapes with his evil crew in tow to Asteroid M where he hatches a plan to place a comet on a collision course with Earth. The X-Men, of course, engage in a battle in space with Magneto and his cronies. The X-Men defeat Magneto and the Brotherhood in their plot to destroy the Earth, but at a heavy cost: Nightcrawler seems to have sacrificed himself so that the good guys would win. Upon hearing this, Kitty is deeply upset that she misunderstood Nightcrawler and she didn't treat him fairly, much like the human race to the mutants. When the X-Men return to Earth to assume their regular lives, they find that Nightcrawler had, in fact, escaped in time. All is well and lessons have been learned. (from xmen.ugo.com)
